Despite being qualified as a ‘Sports Therapist’, in reality I treat a variety of individuals, from office workers and trades people to climbers and ultra runners. No matter what a person’s work or activity level it is common to experience stress, pain and injury.

I utilise sports/deep tissue massage for rapid pain relief, stress relief, better sleep and down regulation of the nervous system. It's a modality that can affect immediate changes in physical sensation and confidence, helping us recover from physical and psychological stresses more effectively.

My in-depth rehab sessions involve person focused recovery strategies. I don't believe in standard issue 'exercise sheets'. All exercise interventions stem from a client lead needs analysis. This directs us to a rehab approach which is not just specific to the pain or injury but also to the individual and their life.

During each session I provide clients with information they can use to facilitate their own healing and develop confidence in their bodies. This includes:

  • the role of our nervous system in pain and recovery and how our activities can positively and negatively effect it

  • consultation on training, recovery and the impact of sleep, stress, anxiety, mindset and lifestyle.

I also design Strength & Conditioning programmes for individuals wishing to increase their physical resilience.

  • Sport focused S&C can allow us to train harder, recover quicker and perform better.

  • S&C for longevity means stimulating strength, stability and mobility for physical resilience into old age. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what your past activity levels. All you need to do is commit to the process and I will guide you through it.

Please take a look at the profile section in the menu to understand a little more about my training and interests.

Sports/Deep Tissue Massage

  • Physical Maintenance & Recovery for those who push their bodies in work, exercise and sport

  • Stress Management & Relaxation for those who work or live in high stress environments

  • Pain Relief for those dealing with persistent pain issues (e.g. lower back pain, neck pain etc.)

  • Injury/Symptom Management for those dealing with physical discomfort as they recover from an injury.

What to expect at your first appointment:

  • Consultation regarding reason for attending + relevant physical history.

  • Assessment (Range of Motion, Strength, Function, Pain) - Dependent on reason for attending (not always necessary).

  • Thorough Soft Tissue Therapy treatment addressing main reason for attending and any areas relevant or influential to the main reason for attending. I will not just ‘rub the painful bit’ for a quick fix. I will attempt to identify anything relevant which may be contributing to your pain and also address those factors.

Injury & Persistent Pain Rehab

Rehab is the start of a journey to physical resilience. It has relevance not just to athletes but to anyone who is injured or suffering with pain and discomfort.

  • Via rehab programmes we can optimise your injury recovery so that you can engage in work, exercise and day to day activities feeling stronger, more confident and more prepared for the stresses your body will undergo.

  • Via a graded exposure approach to persistent pain we can use exercise to teach you to let go of fears surrounding threatening movements and loading. Persistent pain will begin to subside as function and movement confidence develops.

What to expect at your first appointment:

  • Consultation regarding reason for attending + relevant physical & injury history.

  • Assessment (Range of Motion, Strength, Function, Pain) - To establish type of injury/pain and any contributory factors.

  • Concise rehab/strength & conditioning/resistance training routine assigned. All exercises will be demonstrated by myself and practiced by you. We will take videos to ensure you have a resource to refer back to when carrying out the exercises on your own.

  • Exercise diary including: information on dosage (reps, sets, frequency) and markers for regression or progression of the exercises.
